Elkline Software was founded in 1986 by Al Saliba.
The software was written in a DOS based, flat data
base call Professional File. The original software was
written for the Dothan Elks Lodge #1887. At that time
Dothan was using the card file furnished by Grand
Lodge. We copied the original card to create the data
base. The first version is dedicated the Dothan
secretary Heard Saxon who help me with the duties
of the secretary and all the reports he needed. The
software was distributed to all the Alabama lodges in
1990. Sam Cook joined the team in 1992 and
converted the software to the relational database we
are using today. With Sam's input to the software and
my idea of leasing the software for $20.00 a month
made us one of the most popular softwares on the
market. In 2000 we brought Jim Gordon on board. We
needed his knowledge of the Grand Lodge and his
skills with writing the reports. My job continued to be
customer support and relations. Our company as with
a lot of others suffered after 9-11. I was activated by
the Air Force and Sam went on to become  lead
programmer and vice president of a large corporation.
I spent the next three years on active duty. I retired
from the Air Force this year and back on the job to
support our customers. Jim and I will be here to
support you. With the release of Version 3 we look
forward to the new year.
